SMD Advanced Compound Semiconductor Sdn. Bhd. (SMD ACS) is a gallium-nitride (GaN) power-semiconductor spin-out of SMD Semiconductor Sdn. Bhd., based in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. It develops integrated GaN power devices and System-in-Package modules that raise conversion efficiency and shrink system footprint — and, uniquely, report on their own health. Real-time telemetry and predictive analytics form a GaN Health Signature that turns reactive protection into predictive maintenance for renewable energy and data-centre power systems. SMD ACS is incubated under the SemiconStart Malaysia programme, delivered by MTDC in collaboration with Silicon Catalyst UK.
